Mosaic was commissioned by BBC Ideas for a series of three videos in partnership with The Open University.
Drawing on Mosaic’s history (and mild obsession) with all things psychological, these films look at the fascinating ways in which cognitive psychology explains how we perceive the world we live in. From the initial idea, through to scripts and animation - the objective was to find interesting ways to represent research focussing on memory, attention and perception and what this tells us about being human.
The King’s Fund is an independent think-tank who conduct research and analysis to inform health care organisations, communities and individuals. The King’s Fund commissioned MoMo to make a video about Population Health, the video is a 3 minute narrated-animation with a voice-over explaining the wide-scale macro concepts associated with population health as well as case studies focussing on how it affects individuals of all ages and backgrounds.
Mosaic Motion were commissioned by Hampton Court Palace to produce an animation that would work alongside the powerful soundscape made by multidisciplinary studio Chomko & Rosier. The project is an immersive installation set within Hampton Court Palace - located the Buttery.
My Troubled Mind is a 6 part series for BBC Teach. Through real testimony, this series explores teenage mental health. It will act as a springboard for discussions on mental ill-health in PSHE lessons in secondary school - a topic that is still widely misunderstood and unrecognised. It covers a variety of topics, from self harm, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and addiction.
MoMo were commissioned by Arthur London to create the animation for Action for Children’s christmas campaign. Below we have also broken down the creative process, but if you haven’t got time for that, you can watch the final video here:
A series of 7 animations commissioned by BBC Bitesize, to act as revision materials for students taking the WJEC GCSE Religious Studies syllabus. Covering a diverse range of topics, from Gender Equality to Lesser Jihad, the films were created using purely archive and real-world material to ground the films in their appropriate historical contexts.
A series of animated explainer videos commissioned by the BBC for their internal communications. The series, devised to help those working within the educational sectors of the BBC, as well as independent suppliers and production companies, was based around the research of educational consultant David Didau, and explores some of the modern thinking surrounding how we learn and interact with educational content.
We developed a 30 second TV advert made for Pure Cremation. The film is a promotion for Pure Creation's funeral services. It is a 2D character driven ad, focusing on a Grandpa's humble and intimate celebrations of his life at his funeral. We see the event through his eyes, as he watches his family and friends chatter and reminisce.
MoMo was commissioned by BBC Campaigns to make a series of 9x short films for an upcoming project surrounding language and literacy in young children.
MR PORTER is an award-winning global retail destination for men's style, combining the best international menswear with editorial content. Their site sells over 300 leading international brands, with content and new products added weekly. We were commisioned to create a slick and entertaining short video exploring the history of stylish spies, ranging from Ian Fleming’s life before James Bond to Michael Caine’s iconic Harry Palmer. The result is this stylish, humorous short video that shows that espionage goes hand in hand with looking good!
Mind, the mental health charity, commissioned MoMo to produce a short animation for their latest campaign looking at the housing crisis. This film touches on about the affect of housing on mental health, as well as the treatment those with mental health problems may face when looking for housing. We were commissioned directly through Mind, and saw it from inception through to final delivery.
MOMO Studios were approached by Finnebrogue Artisan to see if we could come up with a creative campaign strategy to give more impact to the launch of Naked Bacon - a new way of producing bacon using nothing but natural ingredients - free from nitrites, preservatives, E numbers and other nasties.
Using cut-outs and motion graphics, this BBC learning series GCSE History - Medicine Through Time takes students back in time, bringing to life the artefacts that tell our medical history.
Commissioned by Action Aid, Ama's Story is based on the real account of a 15 year old girl in Ghana who was abducted to become a child-bride. It works as part of their global campaign to end child marriage.
Animated Minds: Stories of Postnatal Depression is a series of 5 films highlighting personal stories of perinatal mental health issues. Animation is combined with personal testimony to give honesty and power to the narratives of 5 parents who have endured the trauma, fear and anxiety of mental distress before ultimately finding a way through.
When I Worry About Things: Real Life Stories of Children Managing Difficult Feelings When I Worry About Things is a series animated documentaries, produced for the BBC that use personal testimony to explore mental health issues from the perspective of children.
Commissioned by BBC Learning to sit under the banner of A-Z of Religion & Beliefs for KS3 students, this series gives a unique look into the history and traditions of religions in all their forms.
An animated explainer video commissioned by the BBC for their internal communications. This film, explains how, through an updated internal system called Plan to Publish, (or P2P), they will streamline internal workflows, improve productivity, commissioning, communications and user experience.
Innovative global drinks brand Diageo requested a series of animations to accompany their Stay Yourself campaign. Directed at students across Europe, the campaign aims to reach half a million people in 2016-17, with a reminder to enjoy a drink without overdoing things.
The Big Push uses the work of Scottish poet John Glenday, who was commissioned to write a poem in response to the 1916 Herbert James Gunn painting 'The Eve of the Battle of the Somme’. A powerful piece of writing, the poem provides a depth and richness to the painting. The notoriously laborious paint-on-glass method was then employed to create the animation - in a conscious attempt to use the same medium that Gunn had for the painting itself.
BBC Bitesize commissioned Mosaic Films to produce 73 animated short films - a total of 60 minutes - across subjects english, maths and science for key stage 1 and 2.
BBC Learning: History is a quick-fire animated series of irreverently narrated documentaries aimed at 8-11 year olds. The films look at four different eras of History – the Ancient Greeks, the Ancient Romans, the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons and also at ‘How to be a Historian’ – exploring the similarities between the roles of historians and detectives.
Mosaic Films worked with The Nuffield Council on Bioethics to produce a short animation which conveys some of the key themes of the Council’s report ‘Children and clinical research: ethical issues’. The film is from the perspective of Mia, a character who goes through some of the questions and issues that might be raised when a young person is invited to take part in clinical research.
As part of Imperial College London, a global leader in science and technology, Imperial Business College drive business advantage through the fusion of business and technology and an entrepreneurial mindset. Our team was commisioned to create 12 short animations that overview the different Master and Doctoral degrees at Imperial Business College in London.
BBC Bitesize commissioned us to produce a short, animated video designed to inspire children about writing.
As our concept we took Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 days - likening the writer to an explorer. As a writer sits at their desk a page of their notebook is caught by the wind, drifting out the window into the shape of a hot air balloon.

Built by the BBC RES comprises an open platform which organises and indexes documents, data, images, TV and radio programmes and other rich descriptive resources from public sector institutions in the UK and beyond.
BBC Teach commissioned Mosaic Motion to produce a short animated explainer. The video acts as a ‘how to’ manual for less tech savvy teachers on how to subscribe, navigate the channel, and create their own playlists. We used simple and clean animation to get the balance between the tutorial and promotional tone.
